Are you considering a new Sage fly rod but finding that there isn't enough money in your wallet? Perhaps it's time to look at some creative ways to earn a little extra cash for the tackle you need.

The Internet is truly evolving into a network of individuals and businesses. As the popularity of the WWW grew, marketers looked at the Internet as a fantastic way to showcase product and earn profits. As more and more businesses developed an on-line presence, many creative programs have been invented. One of the best that allows revenue sharing between business and individuals is the Associate Program. Pioneered by Amazon.Com, associate programs allow individuals to use special links from their own personal pages to the merchants' sites that they are in association with. If these links generate sales for the merchant, the referring individual may earn a commission on the sale.

Businesses in the angling industry have been quick to recognize the value of associate programs. Several now offer their own versions, even including one organization that will pay commissions for memberships that are referred. Most commissions are about 10% with some paying up to 20% on certain specific products. Take a look at this list of businesses that have associate programs.

There are a number of individuals who earn excellent money from their personal page, generating sales for merchants. However, there is no easy way to make money. Simply putting up a link on your site to a merchant's site probably will not generate an awful lot of income for you. Why not consider though joining one of these associate programs and provide some good content on your personal site? The better the content, the more likely you will have visitors to your site. If you can even make personal recommendations about the merchant you have linked to, this will provide even greater credibility and naturally increase your chances of generating income with your site.

Not all associate programs are created equal, and you may want to check out the credibility of the business. How long has it existed? Does it have a postal address? A business that has an Associate Program (such as Custom Tackle Supply) which is monitored and/or administered by a third part will probably have greater integrity than others.

Why not give it a try? See what kind of personal pages you can come up with and take a look at the fishing related businesses that offer associate programs. I have several of them listed for you to consider.

Who knows? Maybe that Sage rod could be bought sooner than you think!
